Thin film physics, characterisation of thin films by electron microscopic and diffraction methods and by electron beam microanalysis. Ion beam- surface interactions, ion milling.
Specific field of research:
Structural and electrical characterisation of thin films by UHV in-situ transmission electron microscopy. Development of electron microscopic techniques and microanalysis. Development of ion guns. Development of ion beam machining methods for XTEM sample preparation and Auger in depth profiling.
