Head of Department of Laser Application Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA)
Website: http://www.szfki.hu/~czi/
Scope of activity:
After finishing the University participated in several R&D projects for the Investigation of the acoustooptic and photoelastic properties of the new chalcogenide glasses and their applications. At the same time developed several types of acoustooptic and photoelastic modulators, deflectors and scanners. In the Research Institute for Solid State Physics and Optics (RISSPO) did theoretical and experimental work on photon counting, developed a laser ionisation time-of flight mass spectrometer, investigated laser light scattering by small particles and some non-linear optical phenomena. On the basis of these investigations developed several types of air-borne particle counters for clean-room monitoring (low concentration region) and for industrial, environmental and toxicological applications (high concentration region) and a liquid-borne particle counters. Headed the investigation of nuclear aerosols (in frame of EC IV. FP – CODEX Project and EC V. Framework Programme COLOSS Project). In the past few years developed an optical system for the generation of entangled photons by non-collinear parametric down-conversion and applied them for quantum optical measurements. From 1999 head of the Department of Laser Application, from 2000 - the leader of the Hungarian Research and Development Programme and project leader of on R&D consortium. During his activities developed co-operations with more than 25 Institutions and research groups. Autor and co-author of 150 scientific publications (more than 70 regular papers), invented 12 patents.
